The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced plans to purchase Great Northern Beans for distribution to various food nutrition assistance programs.  Purchases will be made under the authority of Section 32 of the Act of August 24, 1935, with the purpose to encourage the continued domestic consumption of these products by diverting them from the normal channels of trade and commerce.

The Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) uses non-competitive cooperative agreements to provide funding for state, tribal and territorial governments to purchase foods produced within the state or within 400 miles of the delivery destination to help support local, regional and underserved producers. The purpose of this program is to maintain and improve food and agricultural supply chain resiliency.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will host an informational webinar for eligible organizations interested in applying for the new Farm and Food Worker Relief (FFWR) Grant Program. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 2 to 3 p.m. ET.
