Support economic opportunities and a more resilient local food system by purchasing locally and regionally produced, minimally processed or unprocessed, food, targeting purchases from socially disadvantaged farmers/producers in the amount of $560,189 (full award amount).

2. Facilitate linkages between small businesses and schools.

3. Capture, summarize, and disseminate quantitative and qualitative data with respect to program outcomes, including recommendations for long-term sustainability and best practices.

4. Use the LFS investment of resources to strengthen, formalize, and nurture new and existing networks of producers, schools, and aggregators/distributors. These decentralized networks will work together to create sustainable models for program implementation, evaluation, iteration, and long-term coordination and advocacy for best practices in connecting local farmers and schools.

RIDE will achieve these objectives through a combination of subcontracts with local food hubs able to partner with and deliver to schools as well as direct sub-awards to those schools that are not able to be serviced by local food hubs. RIDE will work with Farm Fresh Rhode Island (FFRI) to leverage existing relationships with local farmers/producers and will strive to strengthen newly created relationships established through RI DEM’s LFPA program

Thu, 06 Oct 2022 14:43:38 +0000 NWilkins 41665 at https://www.ams.usda.gov RFBC Contact List https://www.ams.usda.gov/services/local-regional/rfbcp/contacts RFBC Contact List mbrown Wed, 10/05/2022 - 15:57

This file is a list of organizations around the country that are interested in participating in a Regional Food Business Center. This two-year project is designed to help small and socially disadvantaged producers sustainably grow their operations by creating predictable market demand during this economically turbulent time.

NCFF, a nonprofit with more than two decades of experience building collaborative networks to address complex challenges, will establish the Nebraska Healthy Local Foods Committee (NHLFC). NHLFC will partner with agriculture organizations, food distributors, and cooperatives to identify socially disadvantaged producers and recruit those producers to participate in the LFPAP. Simultaneously, NHLFC will establish a tiered purchasing system that gives preference to socially disadvantaged producers and will enter into agreements with food banks, food pantries, and other local organizations addressing food insecurity to purchase farm products from producers participating in the LFPAP.

To guide the work of the NHLFC, based on lessons learned from the past four years, and to amplify the reach of future learnings, Communities of Practice (CoP) will be formed around three LFPAP-related domains – production, marketing, and emergency food distribution. CoP are a structured way to create peer-learning opportunities that facilitate the sharing of lessons learned, shorten the time it takes to reach proficiency, and create space to collaborate with others.

Wed, 05 Oct 2022 14:39:41 +0000 NWilkins 41658 at https://www.ams.usda.gov LFPA Executive Summary – North Dakota https://www.ams.usda.gov/selling-food-to-usda/lfpacap/exec-summaries/nd LFPA Executive Summary – North Dakota NWilkins Tue, 10/04/2022 - 11:36

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture intends to use Local Food Purchase Assistance program funding to enhance the food and agriculture supply chain resiliency in North Dakota.
