USDA Announces Appointments to the Paper and Packaging Board

WASHINGTON, Dec. 28, 2018 - Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue today announced the appointment of six members to serve on the Paper and Packaging Board.

Members newly appointed to serve three-year terms are: 

  • Kingsley Shannon, Alpharetta, Ga.
  • Michael P. Doss, Atlanta, Ga.
  • Scott C. Light, Atlanta, Ga.
  • Steve Voorhees, Atlanta, Ga.

Michael A. Weinhold, Miamisburg, Ohio, is appointed to serve a two-year term and Erin Reynolds, Memphis, Tenn., is appointed to serve a one-year term. Both will fill vacant seats. 

The board has 12 members, including eleven domestic manufacturers and one importer. Members can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Since 1966, Congress has authorized 22 industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities.  The Agricultural Marketing Service provides oversight, paid for by industry assessments, which ensures fiscal accountability and program integrity.
