Civil Rights - Limited English Proficiency

Executive Order 14224 (March 6, 2025) designated English as the official language of the United States. The Department of Justice issued Memorandum 140776 (July 14, 2025) that outlines implementation of EO 14224. AMS will be revising its Language Access Plan in accordance with this memorandum and USDA policy.

Timely and accurate communication with the public is essential to the mission of U.S. USDA to serve all people in the United States by providing effective, innovative, science-based policy leadership in agriculture, food and nutrition, natural resource protection and management, rural development, and related issues with a commitment to delivering opportunities that inspire and help America thrive. USDA is committed to strengthening its services and programs by ensuring that individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) receive meaningful access to USDA’s federally conducted and federally assisted programs and activities in accordance with Executive Order 14224.
