USDA Announces Opportunities for USGSA Designation in the Lower Northwest Texas, Southeast Texas; Keokuk, Iowa; Fargo, North Dakota areas
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announces opportunities for designation for grain inspection services in the Lower Northwest Texas area; the Southeast Texas area; and the areas presently served by the following designated agencies: Keokuk Grain Inspection (Keokuk) and North Dakota Grain Inspection Inc. (NDGI).
The Federal Grain Inspection Service asks persons or governmental agencies interested in providing official services in the following areas to apply for designation:
Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Leech Lake Tribal Council LFPA Plus Executive Summary
The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe (LLBO) Farm to Consumer Food Initiative will purchase $300,000 per year of culturally appropriate food from regional farmers, with a focus on those operated by indigenous or other minority communities over a three-year period. The funds will be used to provide product to low-income tribal members that reside in food desert or those known to be chronically food insecure which will also include those living in the Twin Cities area. Distribution will occur through the LLBO Elderly Nutrition Program, community events, community centers, and home delivery.
