Prerequisites

All Policy and General Procedures Requirements listed in General Export Certification must be met unless otherwise noted in this webpage.

Purpose

This instruction outlines the certification requirements for shell eggs as prescribed by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) of Ghana. 

Grade Requirements - The shell eggs processed under the supervision of the USDA grader must be graded and certified as U.S. Grade A or better as outlined in the United States Standards, Grades, and Weight Classes for Shell Eggs (AMS 56).

Duration of Quality (Expiration Dating) - The following statement will be printed in the remarks section of the Form LPS-210S, Shell Egg Grading Certificate, if the expiration date exceeds 30 days from the date of pack:

“The expiration date declared on the product is the responsibility of the applicant.”

Certification - When completing the certificate (Form LPS-210S) the following information must be  included:

  • The statement "Fit for human consumption".
  • Statement: “Based on the information provided by the applicant and to the best of our knowledge, the product was stored and transported at an ambient temperature of 45 degrees F or less.”
  • Company seal number.
