- April 05, 1990 Watermelon Research and Promotion Plan; Public Member Nominations and Selection – Specifies the public member shall have no financial or marketing influence on the Board besides fulfilling the role from a consumer perspective. - April 12, 1991 Watermelon Research and Promotion Plan; Payment of Assessments – Establishes a 30-day deadline on producer and handler assessment remittance. Annual reports must contain records of handling and of payment for late assessments. Late payments of 10% of the owed assessments are applied for payments not postmarked within 30 days after the end of the month. Outstanding balances are additionally charged 1.5% interest. Also raises the exemption acreage for producers to 10 acres from five, establishes a de minimis amount for importers of 150,000 lbs., assigns a 4 ₵ per hundredweight assessment for imported watermelon, and adds an importer position to the Board.
