- April 23, 1999 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Referendum Procedures - Establishes procedures used by the USDA when conducting an initial referendum to determine whether the issuance of the proposed Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order, as published rule, is favored by the peanut industry. The procedures are also used for subsequent referenda under the Order. The Order was published in a separate document. [64 FR 20105]. Effective: April 24, 1999
- July 29, 1999 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order- Establishes the Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order under the Commodity, Promotion, Research, and Information Act of 1996. The Order was approved by a majority of eligible producers of peanuts. The Order establishes the National Peanut Board who will conduct a generic program of promotion, research, and consumer information to expand markets for peanuts. [64 FR 41256]. - January 14, 2005 Exemption of Organic Products From Assessment Under a Commodity Promotion Law - Exempts any person receiving or handling authorized organic products from paying assessments. Amends 17 research and promotion programs. [70 FR 2757]. Effective: February 14, 2005
- September 21, 2005 Amendment to the Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order – Revises the collection process of assessments for peanuts, including those covered under the USDA Farm Service Agency loan program. - March 20, 2008 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Amendment to Primary Peanut-Producing States and Adjustment of Membership- Reapportions membership to reflect shifts in peanut production. Mississippi was determined to be a primary peanut-producing state therefore a member and alternate to represent the state are added to the Board. [73 FR 14921]. Effective: March 21, 2008
- March 21, 2014 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Amendment to Primary Peanut Producing States and Adjustment of Membership – Reapportions membership to reflect shifts in peanut production. Arkansas was determined to be a primary peanut-producing state. A member and alternate position were added to the Board for a total of 11 members. [79 FR 15639]. Effective March 24, 2014
- December 31, 2015 Exemption of Organic Products From Assessment Under a Commodity Promotion Law - Exempts people that produce, handle, process, market, manufacture, or import organic certified products from paying assessments. [80 FR 82029]. Effective: February 29, 2016
- June 14, 2018 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Change in Assessment Rate Computation- Changes the assessment rate computation for U.S. peanuts and changes the bases for assessments from value to volume (per ton). Assessment rates will be $3.55 per ton for Segregation 1 peanuts and $1.25 per ton for lower quality Segregation 2 and 3 peanuts. The changes to the Order were unanimously recommended by the Board and allows for a more predictable revenue stream. [83 CFR 27683]. Effective: July 16, 2018
- March 23, 2020 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Amendment to Primary Peanut- Producing States and Adjustment of Membership – Reapportions membership to reflect shifts in peanut production. Missouri was determined to be a primary peanut-producing state. An additional member and alternate seat are added to the Board for their representation. [85 FR 16231]. Effective: April 22, 2020
- December 21, 2021 Peanut Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Increase the Threshold of the Primary Peanut Producing States and Adjustment of Membership – Revises the definition of a primary peanut-producing state to increase the threshold qualification to 20,000 tons of peanuts per three-year average. This change allows minor peanut-producing states to have a larger pool of nominees and decreases the Board size to 12 members and alternates from 13. [86 FR 72151]. Effective: January 20, 2022
