Farm Gate and Export Quality Reports
The Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) launched a pilot program to capture inspection data for grain that producers bring to the market. The first-point-of-sale, or farm gate, inspection data provides a baseline of quality that allows GIPSA to better evaluate the market impact of proposed changes to the grain standards. GIPSA began the assessment process with sorghum in 2006 and added soybeans in 2007. In 2008, GIPSA added a soybean export assessment. GIPSA conducted each assessment for 5 years.
