USDA Provides Notice of Retroactive Reimbursements Under the Dairy Donation Program, Encourages Donation of Surplus Dairy Products

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will soon implement the Dairy Donation Program (DDP) as established in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. The program will facilitate the timely donation of dairy products to nonprofit organizations who distribute food to persons in need and prevent and minimize food waste.

USDA Announces Dates for Pecan Marketing Order Continuance Referendum

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will conduct a referendum June 7 – 28, 2021, for pecan growers to vote on whether to continue their federal marketing order.

The marketing order authorizes the American Pecan Council to conduct crop and market data collection, domestic research and promotion campaigns, and efforts to regulate grade, size, quality, pack and container requirements under USDA’s oversight. USDA conducts continuance referenda every five years to determine growers’ level of support for the program.

Pre-Solicitation Announcement for TEFAP Fresh Produce

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced plans to purchase Fresh Produce (WBSCM Material Number 111427). Pandemic Assistance funding has been made available to supplement The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) program for the remainder of the fiscal year ending September 30, 2021. Pursuant to that directive, to help those most in need receive healthy, fresh foods, USDA will be offering boxes of pre-packed, fresh produce through TEFAP in addition to the single varieties that are already available to order.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program Fresh Produce Package

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will be purchasing a fresh produce package for distribution through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).  The fresh produce package will contain a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.  The fresh produce for this program must be grown and processed exclusively in the United States.  If you are interested in participating in this program, please see the requirements below.
