Pre-Solicitation Announcement for CCC Purchase of Fresh Apples, Pears, Potatoes, and Mixed Fresh Produce Boxes

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced plans to purchase Fresh Apples, Pears, Potatoes, and Mixed Fresh Produce Boxes for distribution to various food nutrition assistance programs. Purchases will be made under the authority of Section 5 of the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) Charter Act.

Cowlitz Indian Tribe

Native Americans face some of the highest rates of food insecurity, and the pandemic has worsened this disparity. Many people in Indian Country reside in food deserts—areas with few grocery stores or access to fresh produce and healthy foods. The Cowlitz Indian Tribe has begun a collaborative pilot program to solve hunger in our local Native American communities. The Tribe and local food agencies are working together on a two-year project to improve nutrition security and increase food sovereignty for Tribal members.

Wyandotte Nation

Wyandotte Nation is the lead applicant for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Program and plans to establish new marketing opportunities by purchasing fruit, vegetables, dairy, and protein from local producers and socially disadvantaged farmers/producers in order to distribute food fresh and nutritious foods to our underserved community.

Pre-Solicitation Announcement for American Agriculture Feeds Kids and Families Acquisition

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced plans to purchase a variety of protein items to support activities to feed kids and families. Potential materials may include dairy, meat, and poultry items.  The funds, provided through USDA’s Commodity Credit Corporation, (CCC) will support nearly $1 billion to purchase food for emergency food providers like food banks.
