Prerequisites

All Policy and General Procedures Requirements listed in General Export Certification must be met unless otherwise noted in this webpage.

Purpose

This instruction outlines specific certification requirements for shell eggs as prescribed by Jamaica.

General Procedures

Product Requirements

Production facilities must have a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system or an equivalent implemented. Before certification of exports, facility management must provide evidence that they are currently compliant with their system.

Grade Requirements

The shell eggs must be graded and certified as U.S. Grade A or better, as outlined in the United States Standards, Grades, and Weight Classes for Shell Eggs (AMS 56).


VI.    Duration of Quality (Expiration Dating) - The following statement will be printed in the remarks section of the Form LP-210S, Shell Egg Grading Certificate, if the expiration date exceeds 30 days from the date of pack:

             “The expiration date declared on the product is the responsibility of the applicant.”

VII.    Certification - When completing the certificate (Form LP-210S) the following information must be included:

  • Total case count in 30 dozen equivalents.
  • Statement: Fit for human consumption
  • Statement: The eggs have not been incubated or irradiated.
  • Statement: The premises of origin of the table eggs are licensed for the production and processing of eggs for human consumption in officially authorized establishments under the supervision of the Competent Authority of the United States having complied with food standards and the hygienic practice for eggs and egg products (for grading, storing, and transport), or similar food safety management system
  • Company seal number.
