Baystate Organic Certifiers (BOC) and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Massachusetts (NOFA/Mass) partnered to design and establish a pilot Organic Experts Program—designed to train a community of independent experts that can serve as consultants to farms and businesses seeking organic certification. Trained experts can then assist farmers and businesses in writing the organic system plan, completing other required paperwork, and answering questions during the process. A suite of products provides strategic guidance to help certifiers develop their own Organic Expert Program with a partner organization. Products include best practices and lessons learned from the pilot program, a marketing plan, and a detailed roadmap for program startup.
