AMS Releases Updated Draft Directive Concerning the FGIS-FDA Memorandum of Understanding and Requests Comment

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) today released a draft revision of FGIS Directive 9060.2, “Implementation of the FGIS-FDA Memorandum of Understanding,” to reflect updated processes in reporting contaminated lots of grain to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The draft directive is available on the AMS website.

USDA Seeks Nominees for Mushroom Council

The Mushroom Council is a research and promotion program that provides the mushroom industry with consumer information, conducts research, educates health professionals, and brings people together from all corners of the industry to collectively work towards strengthening the position of the mushroom industry in the marketplace.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominees for the Mushroom Council to fill three seats for three-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026. Nomination applications are due to the council by May 1, 2025. 

USDA Extends Deadline on Request for Information Related to Quality Standards for Poultry

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is extending the deadline for comments on the Request for Information (RFI) on the United States Classes, Standards, and Grades for Poultry (90 Fed. Reg. 4712) for an additional 60 days. The comment deadline has been extended from March 17, 2025, to May 16, 2025.

USDA Amends the Request for Applications and Extends Application Deadline for the Bison Production and Marketing Grant Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has amended the Request for Applications (RFA) and extended the deadline for the Bison Production and Marketing Grant Program (BPMGP) to April 22, 2025. Amendments to the RFA primarily clarify instructions for applicants, particularly to emphasize that the program is open to applicants who propose a plan and demonstrate capacity to manage a competitive subaward program under this opportunity.

The Hass Avocado Board is a research and promotion program that provides the avocado industry with consolidated supply and market data, conducts nutrition research, educates health professionals, and brings people together from all corners of the industry to collectively work towards increasing the consumption of Hass avocados in the United States.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominees for the Hass Avocado Board to fill seats for six members for three-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2025. Nomination applications are due by April 1, 2025.
