USDA Seeks Organizations to Nominate Members to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is accepting applications from state cattle associations or state general farm organizations interested in nominating beef, dairy or veal producers or importers to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board. Applications are due by February 17, 2025.

The Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board is composed of 92 producers and seven importers. The Secretary of Agriculture appoints board members from nominations submitted by certified organizations.

USDA Seeks National Softwood Lumber Board Nominees

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) seeks nominations for the Softwood Lumber Board to fill seats for five members and four alternates whose terms begin Jan. 1, 2026. Nomination applications are due Feb. 7, 2025.

The board is seeking nominees for five member seats and one alternate seat with three-year terms, from Jan. 1, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2028:

USDA Seeks Comments on Revisions to the United States Classes, Standards, and Grades for Poultry

Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced it is seeking input from the public and stakeholders on how the U.S. Classes, Standards, and Grades for Poultry, also known as the Poultry Standards, may be updated to better serve the needs of industry, large volume food buyers and consumers. Since the last update to these standards were implemented in 2018, poultry production and quality assessment methods have changed significantly, as have consumer preferences.
