USDA Seeks Nominees for the American Lamb Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is seeking nominees for the American Lamb Board to succeed four members with terms that expire in early 2026.

  • One producer with 100 or less lamb
  • One producer with more than 500 lambs
  • One feeder at large
  • One first handler

Any U.S. producer, feeder, or first handler who owns or purchases lambs may be considered for nomination. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 8, 2025.

USDA Seeks Nominees for the United Sorghum Checkoff Program Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is seeking nominees for the United Sorghum Checkoff Program Board to succeed four members with terms expiring in December 2025 and one vacant position. Nominees are needed to succeed three members representing Kansas (including the one vacant member that will serve a 1-year term), one representing Oklahoma, and one representing Texas. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 29, 2025.
 

AMS Announces Updates to Geographic Areas for Official Grain Inspection Services

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is announcing updates to the descriptions of the geographic areas in which official service providers (OSPs) perform official inspection and weighing services under a United States Grain Standards Act designation or delegation, and for the purposes of cooperative service agreements under the Agricultural Marketing Act. The updates are necessary due to changes in natural and manmade landmarks, railroad lines, roads and signs that were used in historical boundary descriptions.

Hemp eManagement Platform (HeMP)

USDA has launched the Hemp eManagement Platform (HeMP) for USDA producers, states, tribes, testing laboratories, and sampling Agents. To use HeMP you must have a USDA eAuthentication (eAuth) account or Login.Gov account.

HeMP is a secure, online system that will be used to manage and submit hemp information and mandatory reporting to USDA, replacing the need to submit via email, mail, or fax. Access the HeMP system.
