The NOSB will meet to discuss substances petitioned for addition to or deletion from the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances (National List), substances due to sunset from the National List in 2022, and recommendations on organic policies.
The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) typically meets twice per year in various locations around the United States. During meetings, the NOSB listens to public comments, discusses agenda items, and then votes on recommendations to the Secretary in a public forum. Detailed meeting information, including agendas, locations, proposals, and public comments, will be posted below as it becomes available. The meetings are open to the public, and no registration is required, except to sign up for oral comments. The face-to-face meetings are not webcast. The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) invites the public to submit written comments and/or provide oral comments at its Spring 2020 business meeting in Crystal City, Virginia. The comment period will close April 3, 2020. Please note: In order to be considered during the Spring 2020 meeting, written public comments or requests for oral comment speaking slots must be received by 11:59 p.m. April 3, 2020.
Please submit feedback on the NOSB Subcommittees’ proposals via Regulations.gov. A detailed agenda, along with the proposals, will be available approximately 6 weeks before the meeting and will be linked above and posted in Regulations.gov. The deadline to submit written comments is 11:59 p.m. April 3, 2020.
Oral comment registration will open when the NOSB proposals are posted. Please check back in early March.
The Board will hear oral comments during the following times:
- Tuesday, April 21, 2020 and Thursday, April 23, 2020, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Eastern (3-minute comment slot)
- In-person meeting
- Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30, 2020 (3-minute comment slot)
