April 12, 2018

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking nominees to fill three seats for the Popcorn Board. Nominations are due to the board by May 1, 2018. The appointed members will replace members whose terms expire Dec. 31, 2018.

Processors who process more than four million pounds of popcorn are eligible to submit an application for nomination. For more information about the nomination and election procedures, contact Popcorn Board Administrator Genny Bertalmio at (312) 644-6610, or Genny_Bertalmio@smithbucklin.com or USDA Program Management Specialist Tarun Harit at (202) 720-9915 or Tarun.Harit@ams.usda.gov.

The industry-funded Popcorn Board consists of five popcorn processors that support the national marketing and promotion of popcorn. Since 1966, Congress has authorized 22 industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool their resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service provides oversight, paid for by industry assessments, which helps ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.
