Phillips Mushroom Farms, L.P.
Grower/Packer/Shipper
2018 - 2020
Mycologist Tina Ellor was recruited into the Mushroom Industry straight out of graduate school at the University of Maine and has been working in it ever since. She has worked for several mushroom-related businesses and is currently Technical Director of Phillips Mushroom Farms; one of the largest growers, packers, and shippers of mushrooms on the East Coast. PMF is a fourth-generation family farm founded in 1927 and produces both organic and conventional Agaricus and specialty mushrooms.
Tina has a true passion for mushrooms as food, functional food, medicine, and for all the many roles that they play in our environment. She lectures widely on the cultivation of mushrooms, the history of the mushroom industry in the US, and the medicinal and culinary qualities of mushrooms.
She is married to a mushroom farmer, so it’s mushrooms 24/7/365! She has served on the Organic Material Review Institute Board of Directors, the National Organic Standards Board, The Mushroom News committee of the American Mushroom Institute; and currently serves on the Pennsylvania Certified Organic Board of Directors and on The Mushroom Council Mini-Summit Working Group in addition to the USDA Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee.
