USDA Issues Opportunities for USGSA Designation Applications in Amarillo, North Carolina, Schaal, State Grain and Utah

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has announced United States Grain Standards Act (USGSA) designation opportunities in Georgia, Iowa, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Utah. In addition, AMS is requesting comments on the quality of services provided by Amarillo Grain Exchange, Inc.; D.R. Schaal Agency, Inc.; North Carolina Department of Agriculture; State Grain Inspection, Inc.; and Utah Department of Agriculture and Food.

USDA to Conduct Vote on California Kiwifruit Marketing Order

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will conduct a referendum among eligible California kiwifruit growers May 18 through June 8, 2026, to determine their level of support for continuing their federal marketing order.

The order requires USDA to conduct a continuance referendum every six years between May 15 and July 15. To be eligible to vote, growers within the production area must have produced kiwifruit during the period of Aug. 1, 2024, through July 31, 2025.

USDA Establishes Salable Quantities and Allotment Percentages of Scotch and Native Spearmint Oil for the 2025-2026 Marketing Year

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a final rule establishing the quantity of each class of spearmint oil produced in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon and parts of Nevada and Utah (Far West) that handlers may purchase from, or handle on behalf of, producers during the 2025-2026 marketing year.

USDA Seeks Nominees for National Potato Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominations for the National Potato Promotion Board. The deadline for nominations is Aug. 15, 2026.

From the nominees, the Secretary of Agriculture will appoint 53 producer members and two importer members with terms beginning Mar. 1, 2027, and expiring either Feb. 2028, 2029, or 2030 as indicated below.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced plans to purchase Fresh, Frozen, and Processed Fruit and Shell Eggs and Egg products for distribution to various food nutrition assistance programs. Purchases will be made under the authority of Section 32 of the Act of August 24, 1935 (Section 32).

USDA Announces $118 Million Food Purchase to Support U.S. Producers and Strengthen America’s Food Supply

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced its intent to purchase up to $118 million in agricultural commodities from American farmers and producers to distribute to food banks and nutrition assistance programs across the country.

These purchases are being made through USDA’s authority under Section 32 of the Agriculture Act of 1935 and will assist producers and communities in need. With this action, the Trump Administration is bolstering American prosperity by supporting American agriculture, rural communities, and those in need of nutrition assistance.
