Proposed Changes to the Marketing Order for Raisins Produced from Grapes Grown in California

On February 13-14, 2024, USDA held a two-day public hearing to gather evidence on proposed amendments to the federal marketing order for California raisins on February 13-14, 2024. 1. How was the Soybean Checkoff program established?

The Soybean Promotion and Research Order (Order) is authorized by the Soybean Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Act (Act) [7 U.S.C. §§6301-6311]. The Act was passed as part of the 1990 Farm Bill and authorized the establishment of a national soybean promotion, research, and consumer information program (Program). The Program became effective on July 9, 1991, when the Order was published. Assessments began September 1, 1991.

2. Who administers the program?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced plans to purchase Salmon Products for distribution to various food nutrition assistance programs. Purchases will be made under the authority of Section 32.
