Packers and Stockyards Division

The Packers and Stockyards Division (PSD) promotes fair business practices and competitive environments to market livestock, meat, and poultry. Through its oversight activities under the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act, including monitoring programs, reviews, and investigations, PSD fosters fair competition, and provides payment protection. It also guards against deceptive and fraudulent trade practices that affect the movement and price of meat animals and their products. PSD's work protects consumers and members of the livestock, meat, and poultry industries.

USDA Announces Availability of New Fertilizer Transportation Data

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) today announced the launch of a new enhancement to the Fertilizer Transportation Dashboard on its Agricultural Transportation Open Data Platform (AgTransport). The enhancement adds anhydrous ammonia pipeline rates (measured in dollars per ton) to complement existing fertilizer data.

USDA Appoints Members to Grain Inspection Advisory Committee

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the appointment of four members to serve on the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Grain Inspection Advisory Committee. The four members will serve three-year terms, effective immediately through Aug. 5, 2029.

The newly appointed members are:

Danny Beyer, Sorghum and Corn Producer, Odem, Texas
Raquel Hansen, Soybean and Corn Producer, Owatonna, Minn.
Cary Sifferath, Vice President, U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council, Alexandria, Va.

USDA Announces Approximately $2.4 Million Available to Support the U.S. Sheep Industry

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced approximately $2.4 million in funding available through the Sheep Production and Marketing Grant Program (SPMGP). The funding will support projects that strengthen and enhance the production and marketing of U.S. sheep and sheep products through infrastructure improvement, business and resource development, technical assistance, market development, and innovative approaches to address long-term industry needs.
