The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is announcing an opportunity for individuals or government agencies in the Texas Central Area to apply to AMS’s Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) for designation to provide official grain inspection services in the area. Additionally, FGIS requests comments on the need for U.S. Grain Standards Act (USGSA) services in this area.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that after March 31, 2023, it will not be enforcing the juice content requirements for the 2023-24 season as it works with industry to review the imported grapefruit juice content requirements. While these specific import regulation requirements, issued under Section 608e of the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1937 Act, will not be enforced, all other standards for grade, size, and maturity remain unchanged.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) today announced that the Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS) has published a proposed rule seeking public comment on amendments to the U.S. Standards for Soybeans that would remove “Soybeans of Other Colors” (SBOC) as a grading factor for determining soybean quality.
The Menominee Nation will coordinate the procurement of indigenous foods on behalf of the Oneida Nation, Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians, Ho-Chunk Nation, Forest County Potawatomi, Sokaogon Chippewa Community, Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, and the Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center for the Tribal Elder Food Box Program (TEFBP). Each respective Tribe will coordinate its own distribution efforts and will make additional direct purchases for additional community distribution.
