LFPA Executive Summary – New Jersey

Jersey Fresh for All -The Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program will be purchasing from local farmers and ranchers, socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers, and underserved communities. The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NIDA), through sub awardee agency-The Community Food Bank of New Jersey- (CFBNJ) will implement LFPA’s food purchasing programs and establish partnerships with farmers and ranchers within the state that best suits local needs, environmental and climate conditions, and seasonal harvests.

USDA Decreases Pork Checkoff Assessment Rate

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today published in the Federal Register a preview of its final rule to decrease the current Pork Checkoff assessment rate of 0.40 percent (40 cents per $100) of the market value of all pigs sold in the United States to 0.35 percent. The final rule also decreases assessments on imported pork and pork products to bring importer assessments in line with those paid by domestic producers.
