LFS Executive Summary – Alaska

The Local Alaskan Food for Schools grant will be distributed by sub-grant to all School Food Authorities approved to participate in the National School  Lunch Program in Alaska; our goal is to increase purchase of local foods in schools by 50% with an increase of purchases of local food from socially disadvantaged and small businesses by 50%; we anticipate at least 30 unique vendors to provide local foods to schools in Alaska through this grant.

USDA Seeks Nominees for National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominations from fluid milk processors and other interested parties for candidates to serve on the National Fluid Milk Processor Promotion Board. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 6, 2023.

From the nominees, the Secretary of Agriculture will appoint six individuals to succeed members whose terms expire on June 30, 2023. Newly appointed members will serve three-year terms from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026.

USDA Announces Appointments to the United Soybean Board - Correction

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the appointment of 43 members and four alternates to serve on the United Soybean Board. Forty-six members and alternate members will serve three-year terms and one member will serve a one-year term. The terms of board members appointed to three-year terms start December 2022 and end December 2025.
