The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today that it will conduct a referendum Oct. 6-20, 2023, for eligible domestic manufacturers and importers of paper and paper-based packaging to decide whether to continue their research and promotion program.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has entered into a cooperative agreement with the Federation of American Scientists to establish a new Food Supply Chain Impact Fellowship for experienced food systems and supply chain professionals to gain experience in federal government and to support the implementation, coordination, and oversight of USDA’s Food Systems Transformation efforts. The Federation of American Scientists is accepting applications for the fellowship until August 7, 2023.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will hold a public hearing beginning Wednesday, August 23, 2023, to consider proposals seeking to amend the uniform pricing formulas applicable in all 11 Federal milk marketing orders (FMMOs). The hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET at the 502 East Event Centre, 502 East Carmel Drive, Carmel, Indiana, 46032.

The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) will meet to discuss substances petitioned for addition to or deletion from the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances (National List), substances due to sunset from the National List in 2026, and recommendations on organic policies. The meeting will be held in person and broadcast live via Zoom.
