Beginning Dec. 7, 2020, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will publish new Daily Prior Day Hog Purchase Reports (LM_HG218 (pdf) and LM_HG234 (pdf)) through its Livestock Mandatory Reporting Program (LMR). These all-inclusive USDA Market News reports will provide customers with more accessible data for easier market analysis and replace the individual national and regional reports, which will be discontinued effective Jan. 4, 2021.
USDA Webinar to Provide an Overview of the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Disclosure and Labeling Division (FDLD) will hold an informational webinar on the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard (the Standard).
The webinar is meant to help regulated entities, including food manufacturers, importers, and certain retailers, comply with the Standard before the mandatory compliance date of January 1, 2022.
USDA Amends Tomato Marketing Order
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is amending the Florida Tomato Marketing Order to reduce membership of the Florida Tomato Committee from 12 to 10, extend the length of the terms of office from one to two years, and reduce the quorum requirements from eight to six. Having a smaller membership will enable the committee to ensure a more efficient flow of business.
The committee unanimously recommended this amendment and a majority of growers favored it in a referendum conducted May 11 through June 1, 2020.

USDA Issues Correction to Lamb Promotion, Research and Information Order Proposed Rule
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) issued a correction today to the proposed rule to amend the Lamb Promotion, Research and Information Order under the Commodity Promotion, Research, and Information Act of 1996. The publication of the correction does not change the date that comments are due on the proposed rule.
