Summary

This final rule implements a recommendation from the Raisin Administrative Committee (Committee) to increase the assessment rate established for the 2023-2024 and subsequent crop years. The assessment rate will remain in effect indefinitely unless modified, suspended, or terminated.

USDA Seeks Nominees for the Citrus Administrative Committee

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominees for 10 grower members and 10 alternate members for the Citrus Administrative Committee. The committee is also accepting nominations for a public member and alternate. Nominations will be accepted through April 16. Voting will take place April 23 at a nomination meeting via Zoom.

USDA Seeks Nominees for the Paper and Packaging Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominations for the Paper and Packing Board to fill three member seats with terms expiring on Dec. 31, 2024. Appointed members will serve three-year terms. Nomination applications are due by May 24, 2024.

The board is seeking nominees for one member seat representing the South Region and two member seats representing the remainder of the U.S. region. Nominees must manufacture or import 100,000 short tons or more of paper and paper-based packaging in a marketing year.

Washington Sweet Cherry Producers Vote to Continue the Federal Marketing Order

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today sweet cherry producers in designated counties of Washington voted to continue their marketing order program.

In the routine referendum USDA conducted Feb. 5-26, 2024, continuance of the marketing order was favored by 98.2% of voting producers, representing 90% of the production volume voted in the referendum.
