The Ohio Community Agriculture and Nutrition (CAN) Project will purchase in-demand products from local, socially disadvantaged food suppliers and distribute those products to underserved, food insecure communities. The project will particularly focus on procuring foods included in HER (Healthy Eating Research) Nutrition Guidelines and that meet the dietary needs and preferences of local populations.
USDA Reopening Comment Period for Proposed Changes to the California Almonds Marketing Order
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is reopening the comment period on a proposal to modify the marketing order regulating the handling of California almonds. The marketing order was established in 1950 and authorizes the Almond Board of California to conduct research and promotion initiatives, establish minimum quality requirements, and implement volume control for almonds grown in California.
USDA Announces $1 Million Awarded through the Tribal Seafood Pandemic Response and Safety Grant Program
WASHINGTON, June 23, 2022 Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is announcing $1 million in grant funding awarded under the Tribal Seafood Pandemic Response and Safety Grant Program (TSPRS), authorized by section 751 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 (CAA) (Pub. L. No. 116-260). TSPRS is part of USDA’s commitment to support Tribally-owned seafood processors significantly impacted by COVID-19.
