USDA Announces National Sheep Industry Improvement Center Board of Directors Appointments

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced the appointment of one producer and an expert in finance and management to each serve as members on the National Sheep Industry Improvement Center Board of Directors. The newly appointed members will serve three-year terms from January 2022 to January 2025.

Tribal Seafood Processors Pandemic Response and Safety Grant Program

The Tribal Seafood Pandemic Response and Safety (TSPRS) Grant Program provides grants to seafood processors, including at-sea processors and dealers, owned and operated by Federally Recognized Indian Tribes, as defined in the List Act of 1994. The grant program provides funds to respond to coronavirus, including for measures to protect workers against novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID–19).

California Walnut Producers Vote to Continue their Federal Marketing Order

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today that walnut producers voted to continue their marketing order program for walnuts grown in California.

In a referendum, 68% of walnut producers voting, who represented 70% of the volume of walnuts produced, were in favor of continuing the program. The referendum occurred Dec. 6-31, 2021 and was conducted by USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.
