LFPA Executive Summary – North Dakota

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture intends to use Local Food Purchase Assistance program funding to enhance the food and agriculture supply chain resiliency in North Dakota. Grant funds will be used to purchase food from local, regional (within 400 miles), and socially disadvantaged farmers/producers for distribution targeting underserved communities. It is anticipated that the partnerships established during this program will continue beyond the conclusion of the program.

How to Apply for Relief

In October 2022, USDA awarded grants to 14 non-profit organizations and 1 tribal entity to provide pandemic relief to farm and food workers through October 2024. To apply for a relief payment or check the status of your application contact the organization serving your area. Below are lists of those organizations, including their contact information and the states or localities they serve. Agriculture Commodity Technician Cotton (HVI Operator)

Applications will be accepted for Seasonal HVI Operator positions beginning September 30, 2024.  To apply, go to the Lubbock Cotton Classification Complex at 120 Texas Tech Parkway, Lubbock, TX 79409.  For any questions, please contact the Lubbock Classing Office, telephone number (806) 283-9400.   Applications will not be accepted after 3:00 pm on December 16th, 2024. 

LFS Executive Summary – Arkansas

The Arkansas Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program (ARLFS), funded through the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program (LFS), will establish cooperative agreements between Arkansas schools, local and socially disadvantaged farmers/producers, and small businesses to provide local food to schools. Arkansas schools are defined by 7 CFR § 210.2 and currently served by the Commodities Distribution Unit’s National School Lunch Program.

Confederated tribes of the Yakama Nation

The Yakama Nation Tribal Government has been tasked with the duty to provide and strengthen the Yakama people through upholding their sovereign Treaty rights, maintaining the Yakama culture, and representing future generations. The recent Covid-19 pandemic showed how fragile the economy can be and exposed gaps in the logistical infrastructure that supports it. The global economy is tied together in so many ways and access to food is a part of that.

LFS Executive Summary – Iowa

Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) proposes an eighteen-month project to purchase and distribute $2,193,501 of Iowa produced and made foods to K-12 Schools in Iowa. Students across Iowa in rural and urban settings continue to be impacted by lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, school food nutrition labor shortages and supply chain disruptions.
