USDA Revising Daily Spot Cotton Quotations Report

Date
June 02, 2025

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is announcing upcoming changes to the Cotton Price Report series, including the Daily Spot Cotton Quotations (DSQ) Report, as well as customizable access to our market information. Starting Aug. 1, 2025, the Daily Spot Cotton Quotations Report will have a new look, and customers will have direct access to cotton price data.

The redesigned DSQ Report will be issued only in .PDF format. It will feature a two-page design for each spot market, reflecting daily prices based on current U.S. cotton qualities being produced. Some changes to note will include the elimination of Grade 71 price reporting, the addition of Grade 33 reporting in some markets, new groupings for strength measurement and additional information reported for extraneous matter content. Customers will access this report through the My Market News (MMN) website.

Additionally, a new feature for accessing cotton price data will be available for customers to download large amounts of customized cotton price data. Users will also have the option to register for the Application Programming Interface (API) feature, a personalized MMN user page to save queries and add subscribed reports to a favorites list. The API will give users the ability to download information more effectively and efficiently.

These enhancements are part of an ongoing initiative to improve the customer experience and innovate access to cotton market news data. This also reflects AMS’s investment in its information technology infrastructure to provide a single, more easily managed system for collecting and disseminating commodity market information.

Webinars and listening sessions will be conducted soon to introduce users to the changes. For more information, contact CottonMN@usda.gov or Veronica Williamson, Cotton Market News Reporter, at (843)-667-4381 or  Veronica.Williamson@usda.gov
