Greenhouse Cucumbers Grades and Standards

  1. U.S. Fancy consists of cucumbers which meet the following requirements:
    1. Basic requirements:
      1. Clean;
      2. Well formed;
      3. Well colored;
      4. Fresh; and,
      5. Firm.
    2. Free from: Decay, cuts or mechanical injury.
    3. Free from injury by:
      1. Scars;
      2. Freezing;
      3. Mosaic or other diseases; and,
      4. Insects or other means.
    4. Size: Unless otherwise specified, the minimum length shall be not less than 11 inches.
    5. Tolerances: (See §51.3857)
  2. U.S. No. 1 consists of cucumbers which meet the following requirements:

    1. Basic requirements:

      1. Clean;

      2. Fairly well formed;

      3. Fairly well colored;

      4. Fresh; and,

      5. Firm.

    2. Free from: Decay and unhealed cuts.

    3. Free from damage by:

      1. Scars;

      2. Freezing;

      3. Mosaic or other diseases;

      4. Insects; and,

      5. Mechanical or other means.

    4. Size: Unless otherwise specified, the minimum length shall be not less than 11 inches.

    5. Tolerances: (See §51.3857)

  3. U.S. No. 2 consists of cucumbers which meet the following requirements:

    1. Basic requirements:

      1. Clean;

      2. Not badly deformed;

      3. Fairly well colored;

      4. Fresh; and,

      5. Firm.

    2. b. Free from: Decay and unhealed cuts.

    3. Free from serious damage by:

      1. Scars;

      2. Freezing;

      3. Mosaic or other diseases;

      4. Insects; and,

      5. Mechanical or other means.

    4. Size: Unless otherwise specified, the minimum length shall be not less than 11 inches.

    5. Tolerances: (See §51.3857)
