National Farmers Market Week 2016

National Farmers Market Week is celebrated across the country from August 7 through August 13, 2016. It's a time to celebrate the farmers, ranchers and local food producers as well as the communities that make them happen. In fact, Secretary Tom Vilsack officially declared August 7 through August 13, 2016, as the 17th annual National Farmers Market Week (pdf), highlighting how farmers markets play a key role in local and regional food systems and in sustaining family farms.

We encourage you to celebrate at your market! To help, USDA is offering free farmers market related graphics online to customize posters, emails, websites and other promotional materials. Colorful and neutral options are available, along with a farmers market character alphabet to create fun and creative text. Customizing materials is easy with the help of a short demo video.

With over 8,500 farmers markets across the nation, it is easy to find a market near you. The National Farmers Market Directory makes it convenient to find farmers markets in your area with weekday, weekend, and evening options to celebrate National Farmers Market Week. Take the opportunity to connect with the hardworking hands that grow your food. And make sure to share your favorite reasons for going to your farmers market using the hashtag #MarketFav!
