USWA FY 2021 Annual Report

Date
March 01, 2022

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), Warehouse and Commodity Management Division (WCMD) released the United States Warehouse Act (USWA) Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Report, as required by the USWA amended in 2000, detailing operations, financial information, efficiencies and cost savings. A copy of the report is available at https://www.ams.usda.gov/reports/united-states-warehouse-act-annual-reports.

The USWA, enacted in 1916 to stabilize and standardize the agricultural commodity warehouse system, provides for voluntary licensing of public warehouses to meet state or other industry requirements. In addition, the USWA authorizes examination of these facilities, as well as collection of fees to fund operations.

This year, WCMD focused on completing the Electronic Warehouse and Commodity Management Data (eWCMD) application, the division’s unified operational infrastructure, as well as converting approximately 2.2 million pages of WCMD paper files to electronic records in compliance with Office of Management and Budget Memorandum M-19-21, Transition to Electronic Records.

AMS continues to work closely with licensees, stakeholders and other industry partners to innovate, adapt and provide effective and efficient services to the commodity warehouse sector.
