The Almond Board of California administers the marketing order which authorizes quality regulations, research and promotion programs, and regulation of the flow of product to market.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking nominees for seats on the board.  Candidate declarations are due by April 1, 2025, and the voting period is April 21 through May 22, 2025.

The Almond Board of California is seeking nominees for the following seats:

  • Two Independent Growers and their alternates.
  • Two Independent Handlers and one alternate.
  • Two Cooperative Handlers and their alternates.

For nomination information, contact Almond Board of California Senior Coordinator, Marketing Order Services, Toni Arellano at abcbodelections@almondboard.com or contact USDA Marketing Specialist Jeremy Sasselli at (559) 487-5901 or Jeremy.Sasselli@usda.gov

These terms will begin Aug. 1, 2025. One grower member and alternate grower seats, and all independent handler seats are for a one-year term. All other member and alternate member seats are for three-year terms. Nominees must be growers or employees of growers, or handlers and employees of handlers.

The current 10-member board consists of five grower members and five handler members. Each member has an alternate. More information about the board is available on the California Almonds webpage on the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) website.

Authorized by the Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937, marketing orders are industry-driven programs that help producers and handlers achieve marketing success by using their own funds to design and execute programs that they would not be able to do individually. AMS provides oversight to fruit, vegetable and specialty crops marketing orders and agreements to help ensure fiscal accountability and program integrity.
