I am in my 43rd year in the produce business, 28 years on the retail side and 15 years on the Grower Shipper Side.
Started in the Produce Department in Lubbock Texas with Furr’s Supermarkets where I worked my way up to produce Manager while enrolled College. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Fruit Vegetable Horticulture from Texas Tech University, Class of 1982. Worked in the growing regions of California (San Joaquin Valley, Salinas, Oxnard) before transitioning in Sales on the LA Market. In 1992 United Supermarkets asked me to partner with them in their movement toward self-distribution. Moving back to Lubbock in 1994 culminating as Director of Produce Procurement. Currently working with Mexico and Texas growers out of McAllen, Texas as Director of Sales for Grow Farms Texas. Currently on the Board of Texas International Produce. In the past I have served on Boards for the United Fresh Retail and Food Service Committee, Southeast Produce Council, Make a Wish and Homes for Hero’s.
