USDA Issues New Monthly Report on Japanese Swine and Cattle Trade

Date
September 08, 2017

Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) published a new Market News report covering market information on the swine and cattle trade in Japan. The monthly report will include Japanese cattle and hog slaughter information, pork and beef retail prices, and supply and demand information.

The report will add transparency to the marketplace for American producers and businesses that export beef and pork products to Japan. In 2016, the United States exported $1.6 billion in pork products and $1.5 billion in beef products to the Japanese market.

The new report will replace five separate text format reports and consolidate the information into a single, comprehensive PDF report. This format will focus the data in a way that is user friendly and saves time and resources for industry and USDA.

The report can be found on the Livestock, Poultry, and Grain International Reports webpage.
