Dairy Shipments to Turkey

April 5, 2016

Ongoing certificate negotiations between the U.S. and Turkey governments have not reached mutually agreeable certificate language. The negotiation deadline has arrived, therefore, as of April 1, 2016, Turkey will no longer accept Sanitary Certificates for milk and milk based products from the United States.

Consignments must be accompanied by an appropriately completed Sanitary Certificate from the United States endorsed on or before 31 March 2016.

Sanitary Certificates for Turkey must be endorsed prior to departure from the United States.

Turkey recognizes the following periods of validity for export certificates for animal products:

  • Products shipped by air – certificate is valid for 7 days from the date of endorsement.
  • Products shipped by sea – certificate is valid for 60 days from the date of endorsement.

Consignments accompanied by an appropriately completed Sanitary Certificate endorsed on or before 31 March 2016 but arriving by air within 7 days of endorsement (no later than 6 April 2016) will be permitted unimpeded entry into Turkey.

Consignments accompanied by an appropriately completed Sanitary Certificate endorsed on or before 31 March 2016 but arriving by sea within 60 days of endorsement (no later than 30 May 2016) will be permitted unimpeded entry into Turkey.
