GIAC Nominations Process Discussion Paper

Background

The Grain Inspection Advisory Committee under its current rules of order utilizes a 3 year term with 5 members rotating off each term.  The nomination process closes in September with a varied approval time frame.

Objectives and Discussion

With the current terms starting on the approval date, the committee can at times be left without a quorum in order to hold business meetings.  The GIAC should look at recommendations on terms that will help align the committee for successful meeting year with a stable term time frame.  The committee should also discuss the full process of nominations for better understanding and possible needed changes

Next Steps

The Grain Inspection Advisory Committee will have the opportunity to discuss this topic at the next scheduled 2024 meeting and provide guidance on how to move forward.
