As Senior Manager of Organic Integrity for Earthbound Farm, John Foster is responsible for ensuring the organic integrity of all products supplied to and handled by Earthbound Farm through internal programming and process assurance. Seamless integration of organic compliance measures and organic system plan maintenance with field and facility food safety mandates and protocols.

Prior to that he was an organic farmer for Seven Spoke Farm in Oregon

Seven-Spoke Farm was a small scale, diversified organic vegetable, herb, and flower farm. His primary responsibilities were crop handling, soil management, propagation, harvest, and marketing.

John has been a Technical Reviewer/Organic Inspector since 1995, and worked as an Organic Consultant for ten years. John has also worked as the Interim Executive Director for Oregon Tilth and the Interim Technical Services Director for Quality Assurance International.

John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Environmental Studies from the University of California and an Associate in Science degree in Horticulture and Crop Production and a Certificate of Proficiency in Greenhouse Design and Management from Cabrillo College. John has completed the following certifications: Independent Organic Inspector Association (IOIA) Farm and Processor Advanced Inspector Training; California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) Farm and Processor Inspector training; Food Science and Technology Course and the HACCP Plans and Implementation course from the American Institute of Baking; and the ISO9000 Documentation and Internal Auditing Course from the University of California Extension Service.
