93rd Annual Collegiate Dairy Contest November 7th and 8th 2014!

AMS will once again proudly sponsor the annual Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Contest, November 7th and 8th at Northern Illinois University in Hoffman Estates, IL. The Contest represents the culmination of student training by college professors who are experts in dairy product evaluation. The six dairy products that are evaluated include 2% fluid milk, butter, cheddar cheese, vanilla ice cream, cottage cheese, and strawberry-flavored Swiss-style yogurt.

Attention dairy exporters, shippers, brokers, and traders! You can now apply for EU Derogations, Raw Milk and Storage export certificates for dairy products using USDA's Electronic Trade Document Exchange (eTDE) System.

AMS issued 37 percent more dairy export certificates this year, thanks to new programs developed with countries that import U.S. dairy products. In 2012, AMS issued dairy export certificates for goods going to more than 100 different countries, supporting the export of nearly 3.3 billion pounds of dairy products valued at more than $4.1 billion.

    Margin Protection Program for Dairy (MPP-D) -- USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) administers the new Margin Protection Program for Dairy, which offers dairy producers different levels of margin protection, and the Dairy Product Donation Program, which purchases dairy products for donation in times of exceptionally low operating margins. You can find information about both programs, including the prices and formulas used to calculate the milk-feed margin at FSA's MPP-D website.

    October 9, 2014 -- Secretary Vilsack Appoints New Members to the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board
