Georgia LFPA Plus Executive Summary

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) aims to strengthen local and regional food systems using LFPA program funds. They will support local and socially disadvantaged farmers by expanding economic opportunities and establishing partnerships with farmers, producers, and food distribution networks. The goal is to ensure fresh and nutritious food reaches rural, remote, and underserved communities.

GDA will utilize the LFPA program to (1) enhance Georgia's beef and specialty food production and processing, (2) distribute food to underserved communities, and (3) generate revenue for socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. They will collaborate with producers across Georgia to increase food production. The eight regional Georgia food banks will play a vital role in distributing food to underserved areas. Socially disadvantaged food producers and residents of Georgia will be the primary beneficiaries.

GDA will report measurable outcomes to demonstrate program performance, culminating in a final report at the grant's end. They are confident that this initiative will build a stronger, more versatile, and resilient food system that benefits all Georgians.
