  • October 09, 2003 Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Subpart B- Referendum Procedures- Establishes procedures used by the USDA when conducting an initial referendum to determine whether the issuance of the proposed The purpose of this rule is to establish procedures used in conducting the initial referendum to determine whether the issuance of Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order, as proposed rule, is favored by the mango industry. The procedures are also used for subsequent referenda under the Order. These referendum procedures are to be used for subsequent referendum under the Order. The Order was published in a separate document. [68 FR 58554]. Effective: November 10, 2003
  • October 04, 2004 Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order- This rule establishes the Establishes the Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order under the Commodity, Promotion, Research, and Information Act of 1996. The Order was approved by a majority of eligible importers and first handlers of fresh mangos who also represented the majority of the pounds produced or imported during the representative period.   • January 14, 2005 Exempting Organic Producers From Assessment by Research and Promotion Programs Exempts any person receiving or handling authorized organic products from paying assessments. Amends 17 research and promotion programs. - In accordance with the 2002 Farm Bill, this final rule exempts certain agricultural commodity programs from paying assessments. The National Organic Program authorizes people who produce authorized organic products to be exempt from having to pay assessments. Certification requires the person to market and produce 100 percent organic products [70 FR 2754]. Effective: February 14, 2005
  • June 22, 2011 Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Reapportionment – This rule states the Board must reevaluate every five years to review the geographical distribution of domestic and imported fresh mangos. The National Mango Board recommended no changes be made to the number of importers, first handlers, or producer seats. However, the Board did recommend eliminating two non-voting wholesaler/retailer positions that remained vacant since 2007. [76 FR 36283]. Effective: June 23, 2011
  • April 12, 2012 Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Assessment Increase- This rule increases the assessment rate for imported and domestic fresh mangos from $0.005 to $0.0075 per pound. The additional revenue generated by this assessment increase will be used to maintain the Boards promotion, research, and communications programs. [77 FR 21846]. Effective: September 1, 2012
  • February 21, 2019 Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Amendment to Include Frozen Mangos -  This rule adds frozen mangos as a covered commodity under the Order. The inclusion of frozen mangos requires additional representation for importers and processors on the Board. One foreign processor and two importers are added for a total of 21 members. Importers of frozen mangos are assessed at a rate of $0.01 per pound. [84 FR 5344]. Effective: March 25, 2019
  • February 24, 2021 Mango Promotion, Research, and Information Order; Removal of Frozen Mangos – In 2019, a referendum found that 52.5% of eligible voters favored the inclusion of frozen mangos into the program. With the vote passing by only a small majority, the Board petitioned to hold an additional referendum to confirm the parameters of the program. The referendum results favored a continuance of the overall program but voted to eliminate the frozen mango provision. Conditions of the Board prior to the amendment are reinstated in terms of member positions and assessment rates. [86 FR 11096]. Effective: February 25, 2021
  • June 25, 2021 Mango Promotion, Research and Information Order; Removal of Frozen Mangos- This rule removes frozen mangos as a covered commodity, which stops the collection of assessments on frozen mangos, and removes the member position on the Board formerly assigned to a frozen mango entity. Other conforming changes were made, including revising the definition of “mangos” to mean all fresh fruit of Mangifera indica L. of the family Anacardiaceae. [86 FR 33494]. Effective: July 26, 2021
