Grades of Canned Leafy Greens

  1. U.S. Grade A is the quality of the product that has a good flavor and odor characteristic of the type and has an attractive appearance and eating quality within the limitations as specified in the subpart with respect to:

    • Color.
    • Character.
    • Damage.
    • Harmless extraneous material. 
  2. U.S. Grade B is the quality of the product that has a good flavor and odor characteristic of the type and has a reasonably attractive appearance and eating quality within the limitations as specified in the subpart with respect to:

    • Color.
    • Character.
    • Damage.
    • Harmless extraneous material. 
  3. Substandard is the quality of the product that fails to meet the requirements for U.S. Grade B.
