Federal State Marketing Improvement Program

Program Purpose

The Federal-State Marketing Improvement Program (FSMIP) is a competitive grant program that funds projects to explore new market opportunities for U.S. food and agricultural products, and to encourage research and innovation aimed at improving the efficiency and performance of the marketing system.

Project Types

This program supports four project types: Agricultural Product Distribution, Cooperative Development, Economic Research, Agricultural Product Development.  The funding for each project type ranges from $50,000 to $250,000.

Available Funding

Approximately $1.1 million will be available to fund FSMIP projects.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include state departments of agriculture, state agricultural experiment stations, and other appropriate state agencies (i.e., state universities, state colleges, or state governmental entities).  All eligible applicants must be located within the 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.  

Cost Sharing or Matching

This program requires a $1-for-$1 cost sharing or match.
