Scott Rice

Since 2007, Mr. Rice has worked at the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) Organic Program as its Organic Accreditation Manager. In this position, he is responsible for the USDA accreditation of one of the largest certification programs in the United States. He is a member of Tilth Producers’ Policy Subcommittee and is the current Board Chair of the Accredited Certifiers Association.

Before beginning his work at WSDA, Scott worked as the Farm Program Manager at Pike Place Market in Seattle; Field Manager of a 50-acre asparagus farm in Canterbury, New Zealand; and worked as a Project Coordinator for the Organic Materials Review Institute.  

Scott earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sustainable Agriculture from The Evergreen State College in Washington State, and comes strongly recommended from Oregon State’s representatives in Congress, trade organizations, and several State Departments of Agriculture working as USDA Accredited Certifying Agents.
