USDA Farmers Market Closed July 5 in Observance of Independence Day; Regular Operations Resume July 12 with a Celebration for Veterans

Washington, D.C., July 1, 2019 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers Market, located outside USDA Headquarters at 12th and Independence Ave., S.W., will be closed on Friday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day and will resume regular operations on Friday, July 12, with a special tribute to veterans.

Support of American Producers Top Priority for USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21, 2018 -- The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) today released an overview of the agency’s accomplishments in 2018 to support American farmers, ranchers and the farm-to-table supply chain. AMS achievements support Secretary Perdue’s primary goals including reducing regulatory burdens, improving customer service and enhancing consumers’ ability to make knowledgeable purchase decisions.

USDA Market News Holds API Webinar

USDA Market News is launching a new electronic data platform to deliver market price information to the agricultural industry.  The new web-based platform, Market Analysis and Reporting Services (MARS), uses state-of-the-art technology to present detailed data sets in a more customer-focused way to better support competitive markets for producers.  We will be hosting a webinar detailing this new service on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2PM ET. Training Webinar is the website federal grant-making agencies use to post grant funding opportunities and where the public can find and apply for those opportunities. The goal of the presentation is to provide information on how to use the website to apply for AMS grant programs.

Topics covered in the presentation include how to register in Dun & Bradstreet, track a submitted application, find (search) for funding opportunities and apply for those opportunities.

Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program (FMLFPP) Applicant Webinar

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the availability of $27 million in grants to strengthen market opportunities for local and regional food producers and businesses through the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program.

AMS will host a webinar to help farmers, producer’s groups and other potential applicants to understand the program requirements.

The presentation will provide an overview of the program objectives, eligibility, and basic information about the application process.

USDA Launches Partnership with Navajo Technical University, Establishes Student Enrichment Program for Tribal Colleges and Universities in the Southwest

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Navajo Technical University (NTU) marked the start of a cooperative agreement that will provide students with internship opportunities to increase their knowledge of agricultural career opportunities.
