Compared to last week: The 700 lbs. to 850 lbs. steers were generally 1.00 to 3.00 lower. On the heifer trade the 600 lbs. to 650 lbs. and the 700 lbs. to 750 lbs. were steady to 2.00 lower, with the 650 lbs. to 700 lbs. heifers were steady to 2.00 higher. No other comparisons made due to limited numbers for a comparison. Good to very good demand for the feeder cattle and replacement heifers in todays auction. Overall, flesh condition was attractive as most cattle were in light to moderate flesh condition. Several long strings, offered in multiple loads, of one owner cattle attract much buyer interest and resulted in an active market. Mostly order buyers on the seats today, with more buyers present this week than last week. Considering the weather the region has experienced in the last month, most cattle were relatively clean, carrying little to no tag. Several strings of replacement heifers garnered lots of buyer interest. Cattle marked value added are in the NHTC program. The area is expected to see some snow this weekend, but the ground is warm enough that a lasting accumulation is highly unlikely. Limited spring field work in the area to date. Pasture condition improves daily as the grass in most areas is off to a good start. 92 percent over 600 lbs. 40 percent steers; 60 percent heifers. Next feeder sale in two weeks on May 10th.
