USDA Farmers Market

Come Celebrate National Farmers Market Week at the USDA Farmers Market this Friday

The day (9am-2pm) and evening (4-7pm) markets will be bustling with activity for all ages including man’s best friend!

Join us this Friday, August 12th, in celebrating National Farmers Market Week at the USDA Farmers Market, both at the day market and night market! Come meet our 44 vendors who are farmers and small business owners from the DC, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Checkout our family activity area to design your own reusable bag, get an I ‘Heart’ Farmers Market temporary tattoo and plant a garden you can wear as a necklace. You won’t want to miss one of our #MarketFav vendors – Milk Cult and Wild Roots Apothecary – who will take over the VegU tent demonstrating how-to make ice cream and “mocktails” using this week’s featured ingredient, cherries. Whether visiting for lunch or grocery shopping after work, both markets will be bustling with activity for all ages including man’s best friend:

USDA Farmers Market (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.):

  • Co-creator of Milk Cult ice cream Ed Cornell with conceptual food artist and musician Justin Zamieroski take over VegU to make “Cherry Busey” ice cream with musical accompaniment. 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

  • Get tatted to show your market pride! Visit the Farmers Market Coalition tent to get an I ‘Heart’ Farmers Market temporary tattoo and to view the winners of the 2nd Annual Farmers Market Poster Contest.

USDA Farmers Market at Night (4 p.m. – 7 p.m.):

  • Meet dogs and cats aboard The Washington Humane Society-Washington Animal Rescue League mobile adoption vehicle and go home with your newest family member straight from the event. Anyone who adopts a pet at the farmers market will also receive 5 free classes at Yoga Heights and a free bag of treats from Spoil Me Rotten Dog Biscuit Co

  • Head over to the family activity area to design your own reusable bag, get an I ‘Heart’ Farmers Market temporary tattoo and plant a garden you can wear as a necklace.

  • Herbalist and owner of Wild Roots Apothecary Colleen O’Bryant takes over VegU to make botanical infused craft mocktails featuring cherries and fresh herbs. 5 – 6:30 p.m.

  • Flow for 60 minutes in an all levels yoga class designed for you and your dog to interact, relax and have some fun with Jess Pierno, owner and founder of Yoga Heights. Come ready to play, laugh and have a great time with fellow yogis and their pups. Please bring your own yoga mat, and dogs should plan to stay on their leash. With or without a dog, you're welcome to attend. 5:30 p.m.
